Dave Thorne

After almost 30 years in policing, rising to the rank of Chief Officer, Dave Thorne wasn't looking to disregard everything that had come before. He was beginning to explore what he could do with all of that experience next.

Having experienced coaching using the Paseda360 methodology himself, Dave saw the difference that deeper, human-centric coaching could make and decided he wanted to learn how to do that work for others. He joined PasedaCoach and completed the Advanced Practitioner in Transformational Coaching programme, adding a completely new set of skills to decades of leadership experience.

That training has already started to take him in directions he might not previously have imagined. Dave has become involved in executive leadership programmes through the College of Policing, bringing together his understanding of senior leadership, the realities of policing and his coaching capability.

Alongside this, he is developing Summit Mind, a coaching business that brings together several different parts of who he is. His love of the outdoors, skiing and adventure sits alongside his experience of leadership and the Paseda360 approach to coaching, creating the potential for something that feels distinctly his rather than another conventional coaching offer.

As a member of The Table, our mastermind for coaches, Dave is currently exploring what that business could become, testing different ideas and working out where his experience can create the greatest value.

His story is a brilliant example of something we see regularly at PasedaCoach. Training as a coach doesn't have to mean starting again and leaving everything you have learned over a long career behind. Quite the opposite. Coaching can become the wrapper that allows you to bring together decades of experience, expertise, interests and life experience in a completely new way.

For Dave, the training has been a catalyst for that reinvention. After almost three decades of one career, there is now a very different chapter beginning to take shape, and we're excited to see where he takes it.
